Ashwin breaks record with 300 wickets in Test history

Another milestone is created for the Indian cricket team as Ravichander Ashwin has claimed his 300 wickets in Test Cricket against the second test against Sri Lanka. Ashwin has beaten the record of the renowned fast bowler from Australia Dennis Lilee, who had achieved this merit at 56 matches. Coincidently, Ashwin had also broken the record set earlier by Lillee which was 250 wickets in 48 tests whereas Ashwin crossed this mark in his 45th test match.

The match was held in Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium in Nagpur on Monday where India achieved a great inning and won by 239 runs which gave a score to India against Sri Lanka  of 1-0 in the series where wickets of Lahiru Gamage, Rangana Herath, Dilruwan Perera and Dasun Shanaka were claimed by Ashwin. Lahiru Gamage was the 300th knocked out opponent, making Ashwin the fastest bowler to reach this record.

Ashwins 300 wickets in Test history makes him a step ahead from the records set by some more notable players like Muttiah Murlidharan, Richard Hadlee, Malcom Marshall and Dale Steyn.
